Mission critical connectivity under the stars in Scotlands capital
Client: Edinburgh International Film Festival
The Edinburgh International Film Festival required an ICT solution that guaranteed internet access for the thousands of industry delegates that attend each year
NEC Computers formed a partnership with the Edinburgh International Film Festival 5 years ago in order to provide a small number of machines for industry delegate internet access.
Over the years, this project grew into its current form —a fully converged solution bringing together desktop, mobile, and virtualised computing solutions, as well as voice over IP telecoms and film ticketing systems. None of this would function without a rock-solid and high speed network both within the Delegate Centre and out to the remote box offices stationed around the City.
Burstfire Networks' previous experience of providing customised solutions made them the ideal connectivity partner for NEC, especially since the requirements from the festival included:
- High speed fail-safe internet access
- WiFi hotspot for delegate use
- Stable Gigabit LAN across several floors
At Burstfire HQ in London's Docklands, these connections were allocated a full range of IP addresses for the many VoIP handsets and devices being used by the press office staff in the Delegate Centre. This method of addressing along with multiple VLANs allowed the isolation of priority network traffic, ensuring voice calls and ticketing system transactions can operate smoothly and uninterrupted.
15 Terabits of data transfer later, Burstfire Networks is still proud to be powering the Edinburgh International Film Festival's Delegate Centre. Download a PDF version of this case study.
What our customers had to say...
"They truly have gone 'beyond the call of duty' to ensure that we experienced the best possible start and they have continued to develop this ethos since we moved hosts back in December 05"
